If I were to ask people that knew me to describe me, one of the first things they would say is, “She loves animals.” I have always had a soft spot in my heart for animals, especially rescue dogs and cats.
There is just something in a rescue pets eyes that I can’t explain. It’s almost like they are saying, “Thank you” for picking me to be part of a forever home. If I had enough money or enough space in my home, there would never be an animal that did without. Unfortunately, 13 fur babies is my limit. You can see several of my babies in this post.
My husband has banned me from visiting our local shelters. After 12 years together, he knows all too well what the outcome will be. So when I was given the chance to share about how Swiffer® and Bark & Co. have teamed up this holiday season to help families and pets find one another through adoption, I couldn’t wait to participate.
In the US, we have over 4 million dogs and cats that are looking for their perfect family. While parents can agree that having a pet is one of the most rewarding experiences for a child, many say that messes prevent them from getting one for the family. The Swiffer Barkbox “Welcome Home” kit provides a little something for the pet and for the new family. Together Swiffer and Bark & Co. are trying to ensure that messes are never a reason to avoid adopting a new furry family member. After all #ShedHappens, but with Swiffer pet hair clean ups are quick and easy!
Swiffer and Bark & Co. are donating 10,000 Welcome Home Kits to participating shelters all over the country. In addition, Swiffer is making a total donation of $50,000 to select shelters to provide them with the support they need this holiday season.
If you are thinking about adopting a pet this holiday season, keep in mind that a pet should be forever, not just a temporary gift. Visit your local shelter and take your time in finding the perfect addition for your family.
#ShedHappens, but don’t let it be a reason to avoid the love and affection a pet can offer you. One of my favorite sayings is, “You should never trust a person without pet hair on their clothes.”
