I was provided with a sample of JLuxe for my honest review. All opinions are 100% my own.
When it comes to Jennifer Lopez there isn’t much she hasn’t done. Better known by most as J.Lo, she is a performer, actress, and businesswoman. Simply put, she is a pretty amazing woman overall.
Adding to her list of accomplishments, J.Lo released a new perfume this week called JLuxe, which can be purchased at Kohl’s. Makes sense with J.Lo already having an association with Kohl’s Department stores. I was sent a bottle of JLuxe to give my honest review of the fragrance to my readers.
I have been wearing JLuxe by J.Lo for the past week to get a feel for the scent. My body chemistry seems to do strange things when it comes to perfume, so I like to give it a fair chance before I decide yay or nay.
As most of you have probably heard at some point, fragrances have a top note, heart note and base note. Which is basically a more technical way of saying that a perfume will smell differently from the time you apply it to when you have actually been wearing it for a while.
It’s the reason why I have applied a perfume in the store and thought I loved it, but by the time I got home it smelled entirely different. Fragrance notes are why it is smart to always try a tester fragrance before making an actual purchase on first impressions. BTW, when I was in Kohl’s this afternoon, I saw that they had small samples of JLuxe for customers to take home. Not sure if that will be the same in all locations, but thought it was worth mentioning.
Here are the fragrance notes in JLuxe:
- Top: Juicy Pineapple, Bergamot, Sweet Raspberry
- Heart: Soft Violet, Damascenian Rose, Orris, Ylang Ylang
- Base: Warm Amber, Cedarwood, Musk
For me the fragrance upon initial application was fairly sweet, but not overpowering. I have tried several sweet perfumes that left me with a headache rather quickly. If I am being honest, I didn’t care for the smell of JLuxe when I first sprayed it on. Luckily, it began to change and left a spicy scent that smelled more pleasing on me. However, still not my favorite smell….
In the end I preferred the smell of JLuxe after I had been wearing it for an hour or so. It became lighter and more of a musk with slightly sweet smell. (not floral at all) Keeping it feminine, just the way I like it. Besides, what else would I expect from J.Lo if not feminine? I could be sitting on the couch and ever so often catch the scent. I applied it today around 3pm and at bedtime I could still smell the fragrance on my skin.
Okay, I won’t talk long on the appearance of the bottle, but come on, you all know you have wanted to buy a perfume before simply because it looked pretty. For this reason, I thought it wise to tell you a little about how the bottle looks.
For the most part JLuxe offers consumers a simple square black and gold bottle. However, we all know Jennifer Lopez likes her animal print. Therefore, she got a little creative with the elegant clear cap by adding zebra print that creates a nice visual effect.
I was really glad that she went this way, because it helped to make the otherwise unnoticeable bottle pop!
If you are in the market for a new fragrance, then add JLuxe to your list to try out. You can find it in your local Kohl’s store in the beauty department. A 1.7oz bottle of JLuxe retails for $49.
