I was never one that was really into young adult novels until the Twilight series. It was then that I became one of those thirty-something year old adults that read the books late into the wee morning hours. I’m not ashamed to say that I love the book series and can’t wait until my daughter is old enough to read them with me.
To my surprise, last night I was able to finish another young adult novel that I was again unable to put down. This book entitled Dark Hope: Book One of the Archangel Prophecies was written by Monica McGurk. Dark Hope is the first book in the Archangel Prophecies Trilogy.
Dark Hope: Book One of the Archangel Prophecies introduces readers to a new supernatural type of love between a human and an archangel. I was originally not sure how I would feel about this romance, but as soon as I began to read, my mind was changed.
Hope Carmichael is a girl who was abducted as a young child. Upon her return home to family, her father is unable to let go of an intense feeling that something more happened during her disappearance than they realize. Much of this is due to a mysterious mark that is found on the back of her neck. In the hopes of protecting Hope, her father turns to religion and begins to prepare her for what is to one day come. The irrational ramblings and craziness of Hope’s father causes the family to separate.
Unable to continue with the protective and sheltered life that her father expects her to lead, Hope is finally able to be reunited with her mother. Now at the age of 15, Hope is longing to finally have the normal life of a teenage girl.
What she finds waiting for her in Atlanta, GA is not what she expected.
Michael, a handsome young man who is emancipated from his parents takes Hope quite by surprise. Michael is mysterious and the type of boy that draws attention from just about any girl in the high school, yet he is undeniably attached to Hope. Quickly becoming friends, Hope begins to go down a path that helps her to understand just what it is that makes Michael unable to stay away from her.
Hope finds herself facing issues in Atlanta that include human trafficking, Fallen Ones and the betrayal of the one she thought she could trust the most. Desperate to find much needed answers, she sets out on a journey that will change not only hers, but the lives of those around her forever.
Will Hope ever figure out what her earlier abduction was all about or what her mysterious mark represents? Will Michael find a way to save Hope? Or himself? What dark secrets will be revealed as each page is turned? Only one way to find out!
You can purchase your copy of Dark Hope: Book One of the Archangel Prophecies online or at your local bookstores. (Retails for $13.99) A portion of proceeds from this book will be donated to organizations that fight human trafficking.
