When visiting Branson, Missouri there is no shortage of things to do with the family. Actually, that is one of the things I loved most about this beautiful city. Every attraction and show is designed with families in mind, including the comedy acts. That is exactly what makes Branson the perfect destination for your next family vacation.
If you are looking to learn a little history of the Branson area while getting some amazing views of the Ozark foothills, Branson Scenic Railway provides both. The train departs from downtown Branson’s historic 1905 depot, where you pick up your tickets for the roughly hour and 45 minute ride.
During the 40 mile round trip, you will experience traveling over bridges and through tunnels as you take in the gorgeous Ozarks all around you. It is a green you won’t soon forget. The 40 miles includes 20 miles in one direction and then 20 miles back on the same track. On the initial 20 mile ride, you will get the opportunity to listen as you are told all about the area around you and its history. On the ride back, it is all about enjoying the scenery and exploring the train.
The Branson Scenic Railway is open seating, so you can choose where you would like to sit. We selected seats in the dome car with panoramic views. Since boarding is done by when reservations are made, it is best to reserve your tickets as early as possible. This gives you the best choices for seating, although I am not sure there is a bad seat aboard the train.
While riding along the rails, you can walk through and explore all the cars on the train. It is a lot of fun to see the restored cars including a concession car for snacks and drinks. My son knew we were on vacation when he was eating nachos and drinking a soda at 10 a.m.
Tickets are available for purchase online for $26.00 for adults and $15.50 for children ages 3-12. Enjoy your trip aboard the Branson Scenic Railway.
