Spending time with my son is something that I do every day, but recently we had the opportunity to take off together on a mother/son trip and it was amazing! There was something about being away together, just the two of us, that allowed me to be more relaxed and to make special memories that we both will always remember.
The trip started on a Wednesday as we drove out of town for a 13 hour car ride. Our final destination would be Branson, Missouri and the Welks Resort, who were so kind to host us on our vacation. Our trip consisted of four days and three nights of what would turn out to be an unforgettable trip.
Upon our arrival the fun began right away, which is just how I like it. After all, vacations seem to go so quickly and it is tough fitting everything in without feeling rushed. Since Branson is home to hundreds of shows and attractions, it made it hard to choose which ones we wanted to do most. Luckily for us, everything we added to our calendar was amazing. I will share about three terrific shows that you won’t want to miss while on your Branson, Missouri vacation. Below is the first of three posts showcasing these shows.
Showboat Branson Belle
The first show my son and I had the pleasure of seeing was aboard the Showboat Branson Belle, a 700-seat paddlewheeler. The Showboat Branson Belle is a cruise along Table Rock Lake that includes a wonderful show and dinner. As we boarded for our approx. 2 hour cruise, we were photographed with an option to purchase the photo later in the evening. It’s a very nice way to capture your time on the Showboat Branson Belle.
The 3 course meal served consisted of salad, dinner rolls, honey-Dijon glazed chicken, beef roast, garlic mashed potatoes and sugar snap peas with carrots. My son’s meal consisted of the same salad and dinner rolls, but he was given a different entree option for children. Everything served during dinner is cooked fresh in the ship’s galley. The final course of our meal was dessert, Golden Brittle Lemon-Berry Torte drizzled with Caramel. Dinner was good, but the best part of the Showboat Branson Belle was the atmosphere of the ship and of course, the show.
From the moment you set sail, you are entertained beginning with the emcee of the evening, Christopher James. Christopher James is not only talented as a comedian, but also as a magician. Combining the two, he creates a one of a kind evening full of laughs.
Be sure if you have a little one aboard that you have them ready if they want to go center stage. Christopher selects one lucky child to perform magic alongside him towards the start of the show. It just so happens that my son got to be that lucky kiddo for the evening. It was an amazing experience for him and for me, as I took tons of pictures to share with our family once we got home.
While Christopher James was entertaining all on his own, the actual show called, Made in the USA is spectacular! In its last season on the ship, it’s one you won’t want to miss. Full of energy, music, singing and so much more, it’s entertainment at its best.
The ShowMen consist of five extremely talented vocalists that perform beautifully together. The voices of these five men harmonize in a way that can only be described as amazing. Together with the Showboat’s live band, Rockin’ Dockers, they bring excitement to the stage that ensures you’ll be clapping and singing along.
As if that wasn’t enough, you also get to experience the featured performer, Janice Martin. Janice Martin is a multi-talented artist that was born to be on stage. She will memorize you with her violin playing while swinging high above the stage in the world’s only violin-playing aerialist act.
This show is one that all ages can appreciate. My 7 year old son definitely enjoyed it as much as I did.
During intermission be sure to take a stroll around the three decks of the Branson Belle. The views of the Ozarks are beautiful as is Table Rock Lake. I took my son to the upper deck to meet the captain of the ship. They are very accommodating and allow for you to go inside and take pictures with the captain. Another great photo opportunity!
Tip: Arrive to the landing early, because you will have the opportunity to explore a couple of gift shops before heading to board the ship. We made our purchases and they held them for us until after the show for pickup. It was great not having to worry about forgetting a package.
The gift shops have wonderful military gifts, jewelry, clothes, hats and so much more. There is even a little snack shop perfect for enjoying something small before the show. Just don’t spoil your appetite!
This review is part of a series for #ExploreBranson. I received hotel accommodations, shows and attractions for sharing my experiences with you.
