There is something about magic that intrigues me and yet frustrates me at the same time. I mean standing within five feet of someone being cut in half and not being able to figure it out kind of blows your mind.
I recently had this exact experience while on my son and I’s Branson vacation. We had the opportunity to see one of the best illusionists to ever take the stage, Rick Thomas.
Rick Thomas has been a performer for the majority of his life, realizing his love for magic at the young age of 7. Today after headlining in Las Vegas for 15 years, he now excites and wows crowds at the Andy Williams Moon River Theater in Branson.
Together with his beautiful and talented assistant Tara, they do illusions that would leave even the toughest audience in awe. The acts you can expect to see range from making birds disappear and reappear, some of his earlier tricks, as he will explain, to having Tara disappear as she floats high above center stage. This particular illusion had a surprise twist that I don’t think anyone saw coming.
My favorite aspect about the Illusionist, Rick Thomas is how he creates a very personal and intimate show for his audience. Throughout his performance, he encourages a large amount of participation from the crowd. It makes for a very entertaining evening full of dancing, comedy and of course, magic.
If you have young children, I highly recommend adding Rick Thomas to your list of Branson, Missouri shows. You can tell that Rick has an affinity for children and I love how he teaches that “Nothing can happen until you dream!” An important message for any age to remember.
Rick Thomas, Illusionist will be at the Andy Williams Moon River Theatre from April-September 2014. Visit the Andy Williams Moon River Theatre website to purchase tickets. You can also call 1-800-MOON-094 to order by phone. Children tickets ages 0-12 are FREE and adult tickets are $39.00.
