It’s that time of year to begin thinking about back to school. Which can only mean one thing, back to school supplies! It is actually one of my favorite times because it means my husband can’t stop me from visiting Staples. If you can’t understand why he would care, just go to Staples with me once. I have an addiction to almost everything they carry, including office supplies, school supplies and technology.
I recently received an email from Staples asking if I would like to work together on a review. If you want to talk about making a girls day, that did it for me!
I agreed to check out the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 and let you all know my honest thoughts.
I’ll start by sharing a little bit about what type of technology I am used to. I have used both PC and Mac computers, however when it comes to tablets, an iPad is what I am used to. I have always been intrigued by the other tablets I have seen on the market, but I was afraid to step out of my comfort zone. With that being said, I am glad I did.
While the Samsung Galaxy Note is different from what I am used to, as far as I have seen, it allows me to accomplish anything that I would want/need to achieve. There has been a learning curve for me, but I expect that with any new technology. I can honestly say that I don’t have it all figured out by any means, but I am working on it.
Here is what the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 that I received comes equipped with.
8.0″ WXGA 1280×800 Super Clear Type LCD
5.5 mm S-Pen
5MP AF + 1.3MP VT Camera
Smart Remote (Universal Remote Control)
Android Operating System
1.6GHz Quad Core Processor
2GB LPDDR2 RAM
Full HD (1080P) Playback** & HD Recording
On the Go:
I use a tablet a lot because it is so much easier to take on the go than my laptop. Even though my Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 only has WiFi, I have found there are not many places I visit that don’t give me the ability to have internet. Because it is so thin and lightweight (11.68 oz.), I am able to place it inside my purse without hardly noticing it is there.
I have had great luck with the battery life on my Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0. I have taken it with me on several occasions for the full day and not lost power. In the evening when I arrive home, I plug it in and it’s ready to go the next day. As stated above, it has the 4,600mAh battery.
I have never been one to use a camera on my tablet very often, however, I know several of my friends that do. I don’t find the camera on the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 to do a great job of taking photos. The photos that I have taken indoors appear to be grainy and unclear. As with most photos I take, when outdoors they come out more clear.
There is both a front and back camera on the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0. The front camera is 1.3MP, while the back camera is 5MP.
If you are looking for a tablet that can also be your main camera source, then you may want to rethink the Galaxy Note. On the other hand if you are like me and rarely use your tablet for photos, the Samsung Galaxy will fit your needs perfectly.
Side note- it is very easy to share photos with the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0. It would be great for work-related projects or sharing quick photos with family and friends.
Having the S-Pen is like having pen and paper with you at all times. It is definitely one of my favorite features of this tablet.
The S-Pen is hidden nicely at the bottom of the Galaxy Note 8.0. On the Samsung website, they describe the S-Pen as “having the comfort of a pen with the control of a mouse.”
I use the S Note app with the S-Pen all the time for jotting down my thoughts and ideas. My children are also able to use the S-Pen for practicing their writing or drawing skills. If you are looking for more apps that work well with the S-Pen, I found an article that offers the “Top 10 S-Pen apps” for this tablet.
The next time you are visiting Staples, be sure to check out this feature of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0. I am sure you will be hooked like I am!
My Personal Favorite Features:
My Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 has quickly become my go to device. Even though I am still learning about it, the ease of use and size make it the easiest tablet for me to have on hand anytime I need it. It feels like I have a personal assistant by my side helping me to organize my day.
The calendar on the Galaxy Note 8.0 keeps track of all my appointments. Whether I add something on my PC or tablet, they sync together so I never have to worry about missing a thing.
I am a big list maker, so S Note along with the S-Pen work amazingly for me. I am constantly jotting down anything that comes to my mind. It allows me to be more organized and less forgetful. That’s a big thing when you get as old as I am.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 has split screen capability. It allows me to have two apps open at once, which is perfect for work or personal use. I am able to watch a video while making notes at the same time. LOVE IT!
I have now had the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 for roughly a month’s time. Having younger aged children, I haven’t found the time to do as much exploration as I would like with my new tablet. Therefore, I am learning more about it each day. The good news is that as I learn more, I grow to love it more for all its awesome capabilities.
I personally find this tablet is more suitable for me than my iPad. I’m not saying I don’t enjoy my iPad, but since receiving my Note 8.0, I use it much more frequently. If you are considering purchasing a new tablet, I highly recommend looking into the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 as an option.
There are so many other features to this tablet that I have not touched on. However, to do so would make this the neverending post, which it is quickly becoming.
In summary, for the average price of $399.99, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 is able to do everything I need and more. This tablet is perfect for parents trying to manage their families life, individuals that need to juggle a busy life and of course, children heading back to school.
You can find the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 at Staples online and in stores. To learn more about the features I was not able to include, visit the Samsung website or Staples website.
I received a promotional item in exchange for my honest review about the product within this post. I received no other form of compensation.
