The Nokia Lumia 710 Smartphone Review and Giveaway

In this day and age you would be almost hard pressed to find someone that doesn’t carry around a cell phone at all times to stay connected to the world.  However, phones have become so much more than just staying in touch with each other, as a matter of fact, they keep us informed in most all areas of our life.

Whether you are wanting to check your account balance, listen to a favorite song, find directions to your next destination or shopping for the newest pair of shoes you can’t live without, you can do it all from your smartphone.  The only thing you are left to decide, is which smartphone is right for you.  Technology is such a personal preference and sometimes what works for one, doesn’t work for someone else.

Take me for example, I am an iPhone girl and have been for years.  However, I was recently sent the T-Mobile Nokia Lumia 710 for review and have found that I am really enjoying it.  Sometimes a little change can be good.

The Nokia Lumia 710 is a windows based phone with a 3.7 inch touchscreen.   It is an attractive phone that is perfect for staying checked in with friends/family as well as social media.   It is part of the T-Mobile 4G network, which means there is no trouble with speed.

Start Screen:  The Nokia Lumia 710 has a very visually appealing appearance with large icons that you customize to the color of your liking.  With a simple swipe, you are able to navigate through your phone with ease.

With the Start screen you have the ability to pin the icons that you use most.  This puts everything you need right at your fingertips.

People Hub:  One of my favorite features on the Nokia Lumia 710 phone is the People Hub.  This is how you stay connected online by using your smartphone.  You have the capability to see what your network is doing on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.  You can also easily text and see photos of the people within your groups.

Groups can be created under the People Hub so that you can classify who is family, friends, etc.  Keeping up with social media is so easy with this phone because it keeps everything in one place.  I can switch quickly to Twitter or Facebook all with the touch of my finger.

The ME tile:  This tile is awesome for people that enjoy staying connected without the fuss.  Once you have linked your social media accounts, you are able to post a message to any or all of them at the same time.  It is so much quicker than having to post on each individual network separately.  Of course, you do have the option to select which networks you wish your updates to appear.

My 5 year old took this with the Nokia Lumia 710

Camera: This Nokia phone has a 5-megapixel camera for you to enjoy taking pictures.  Overall, this camera does a nice job of capturing memories on the go.  The only times I have had issues is when I used the flash.  I haven’t found a smartphone yet that takes a great picture at night.

I love the ease of sharing pictures that I take with the Nokia Lumia 710.  Once the picture is taken, I simply swipe down with my finger to see the photo.  Next, I have the option of using auto-fix, sharing on Facebook, using as my wallpaper or sharing by message or email.  I can also add the photo to my favorites so I can easily find it at a later date.

To take a picture using the Nokia, you click on the side button near the bottom on the righthand side.  After the camera is activated, you click the button on the side again to take the photo.  You can also take the picture by touching the screen itself.

Love the Nokia Drive

Nokia Drive:  By far my favorite feature and what has probably sold me on this phone is the navigation.  I will be the first to admit that I get lost quite often.  I have been in desperate need of a good navigation system and this phone has it.

In case I haven’t mentioned it, I am a very visual person.  The Nokia Drive that comes on this phone is perfect for someone like me.  It offers 2D or 3D navigation with voice turn-by-turn directions.   You can also select the language and voice you prefer to guide you along your route.

Since having this phone, I have not been lost again:)

Voice Commands:  To use voice commands, you hold down your start button and speak.  With the Nokia Lumia 710, you are able to text, call and search for things all with voice activation.

This is such a wonderful feature to have on a phone.  It is spoiling me just a little bit.  As long as there is not a lot of background noise, she does quite a good job of understanding the things  you say.  While she may not be as witty as Suri, she gets the job done.

I could continue to go on about the features of this Nokia Lumia 710, however it would make for an incredibly long post.  If I have kept you this far, then I am doing pretty good.

  1. I currently own the Motorola Krazr K1. It was made in 2006! :O As old as it is and dependable, its time to get a new phone. Speaking of new phones, my favorite feature of the Nokia Lumia 710 has got to be its People Hub. As a consistent user of Facbook i really would enjoy the constant feed of information from different groups of friends and family!
