Residence Inn San Diego: Beautiful Downtown Gaslamp Hotel

What makes for a great hotel?  When you read the question, what was the first thing that came to mind? Was it a comfortable bed, free breakfast, full kitchen, or a pool?  Everyone’s idea of what makes for a great stay while traveling may have slight differences, but for the most part, I think we all want the same things…. The comforts of home!

Staying at a Residence Inn by Marriott gives you just that.  When I was in San Diego for BlogHer this year, I had the pleasure of staying at the Residence Inn San Diego Downtown Gaslamp Hotel.  Unfortunately, it was for a single night, but what a night it was.

It wasn’t until Sunday that I headed to the Marriott’s Residence Inn for a one night stay of “recharging and relaxation”.  It was just what I needed after three days of running around crazy nonstop!

Over the past five years, I haven’t had the opportunity to stay at many hotels.  However, I haven’t forgotten what makes the difference between a good hotel and a great hotel.  Upon arrival at the Residence Inn, I immediately realized that a lot of time had been put into making this a great hotel.

Three things that immediately caught my eye as a guest of the hotel were:

1.  An amazing sitting area at the entrance of the hotel.   It was a inviting space that called for me to kick back, relax and read a book.  Did I mention the beautiful fireplace?

While all of the above things were great to have in the hotel, they were really just additional bonuses to the things I look for.  When traveling,  the # 1 thing that appeals to me is a good nights sleep.  Meaning that I need a comfortable bed to rest my head.  It is one of my favorite things about my house, so I feel more at home when the bed measures up to what I’m used to.

The bed at the Residence Inn was just what I needed.  Not only was the bed equally as comfortable as my bed at home, it also had lots of pillows.  I am telling you, they definitely knew the way to keep me happy.   The bedding itself was amazing to snuggle down into and the best part is when I asked about it, I was told I can purchase the exact set online.

For those of you that aren’t as inspired by sleeping, never fear, the amenities of the Residence Inn San Diego Downtown Gaslamp Hotel are nothing short of amazing.  Whether you are traveling for business or pleasure, you will be well taken care of.  Here are just a few of the perks that will be sure to bring you back for future stays.
