The Knot Genie: Taming the Hair and the Tantrums

knot-genie-logoDoes anyone else wonder what the heck happens to their kiddos hair during the night while they sleep? When my daughter gets up in the morning, it looks like a small rodent has nested in the back of her head. Sometimes the same can be said for my hair. That is probably why my daughter freaks whenever she see me coming with a brush in hand. Unfortunately, it is a necessary evil.

knottedhairRegardless of how easy I am while trying to detangle the mess, I am always left with a crying little girl. Luckily for my little one, my husband was given a product that one of his friends asked him to try. It is called the Knot Genie Detangling Brush. I was anxious to see if this could be the answer to our daily dilemma.

The Knot Genie is a brush that works to detangle your little ones hair without the discomfort they are used too. The bristles on the brush are designed to bend as you go through the hair. This allows the hair to be gently combed to perfection without the fuss. Trust me, no more fuss is a good thing.

brush-lgOur personal experience with the Knot Genie has been a great one. My daughter doesn’t mind me using it on her hair. She has actually even brought it to me on occasion. If it fit into her small hand better, I think she may even brush it herself. Hey, there’s an idea: a smaller size brush for littler hands.

I have used it on my own hair as well. It mentions on their website that it is good for virtually stopping breakage and new split ends. My hair is definitely one that could use that. I will keep you updated on how it works for me.

The one thing I have noticed about the Knot Genie is that when brushing out my own hair it brushes out much more quickly. My hair is prone to tangles, so that makes me very pleased. I have had a couple of experiences where I have had a knot that won’t come out without a little coaxing, but it has been rare.

happygirlIf you have the chore of fighting your little one at hair brushing time, I would suggest checking out the Knot Genie. It can’t hurt to see if it helps you tame your little ones hair as well as their tantrums. Smile

I need this for my 10 year old daughter! She has super-thick hair and it's always a struggle to keep it looking nice and tangle-free.

  2. Jenine says

I SO need this for my little girls. They are 6 and 8 and their hair is impossible. We've tried everything from detangling sprays to haircuts. One is thick and curly and the other is thick and straight and both of them have terrible knot problems and sensitive scalps. It's either some genius device like the Knot Genie or some heavy duty earplugs for me at brushing time.

Myself!! I have such long and naturally tangled hair; you should see the faces hair stylists make when I come in to get a hair cut and they start combing out my hair. LOL

I really need this for my youngest daughter. She really fights with us when it comes to brushing her hair.

I need this for my daughter! She has very very fine hair that tangles up into giant mats. She is also tender-headed, so the only way I can currently detangle her hair is in the bathtub with a comb and about half a gallon of conditioner. Otherwise, she just screams. She's only 2, so she doesn't understand. This would be a blessing to have!

I need the knot genie because I am the mom of 2 girls and I know many many knots are in my future and I think this would be a good product for Dad who may not know how to be as gentle while combing hair

  8. Mama Chocolate says

I would use it for my almost-two-year-old daughter. She has TONS of fine hair and we're starting to have the tangle problem, accompanied by MUCH whining.

I need one of these for myself. My hair gets very tangled-I think it might be because my hair is very fine.

My daughter really needs this. She has very long thick hair, and it tangles fiercely. We've tried all the sprays, and they help a bit, but leave her hair wet and sloppy. My sister, who also had very long thick hair, and an electric delangler that worked, but took forever! Of course, that was years ago… This sounds like it would be great for my daughter.

If my daughter's hair is anything like mine is/was, it'd be for her. But, either way, it'd still be for me, as well. I used to hate my mom brushing my hair. I mean, dang…I knew how to brush my own hair (this was around when I was 7/8), why in the world do I need someone to do it for me? Hahaha.

I need a Knot Genie for my own hair. I am trying to grow it long, but I have such fine hair that regular hair brushes and combs just tear it apart in the morning. I am hoping that this might help.
