You Win Some, You Lose Some!

Perhaps you guys remember what my son chose to be at Halloween last year? If not here is a little picture to remind you.

My kiddo has always loved Thomas the Tank Engine. He owns every train and knows everyone of them by name. I am not sure why I was surprised when I started asking what he wanted to be this year for Halloween and his reply was Thomas.

Don’t get me wrong guys, Thomas the Tank Engine is great, but there are so many other options on what to be at Halloween. So, I brought my little man to the computer and pulled up Halloween Costumes. I was sure I could use my mother persuasion to convince him there were better kids costumes than Thomas.

I showed him cool skeletons, helpful doctors, and awesome fire fighters. I even went so far as to show him Spongebob as an option. I still was getting nowhere. Every new costume I showed him, I got the same response, “No mom, I like Thomas.”

After searching for as long as I could stand, I decided to give up. It was at that moment that he saw it, the costume that would change his mind. Let’s see if you guys can guess what it was?

It was red, had two eyes, a hat and looked a lot like Thomas. That’s right, ladies and gentlemen, it was a James costume.

I guess I can’t complain, after all, he looks so happy and we both got what we wanted. He is not Thomas the Tank Engine and yet he still gets to be a train.

Aww, you know the old saying, “You win some, You lose some.” Maybe next year, I can try again.

My kids never got much into Thomas but my son has been a super hero for Halloween as far back as I can remember and my daughter has been some kind of princess. One year I actually convinced her to be a scary witch and I bought a green and black makeup kit and a big old witch nose to turn her ugly.

Well when the time came to get ready, she decided she didn't want to be ugly-she was a good witch and she wore a purple fancy witch hat that I had instead of the plain old black one, and guess who wore the makeup and fake nose? My husband pretended he didn't know me but I was a natural. Hmm…maybe not a good thing-:0
