Red Robin hosts a gourmet burger cook-off for kids age 6-12 each year. They are in search of the best gourmet burger recipe to serve in their restaurants. For the year 2009, Emma Potts took the title with her Spicy Honey Glazed Bacon Burger.
Last week I had the opportunity to order the Spicy Honey Glazed Bacon Burger. Let’s just say that little Emma can come and cook for me anytime. The Spicy Honey Glazed Bacon Burger was the perfect blend of flavor.
This gourmet burger starts with a juicy burger drizzled in a spicy honey glaze. It is then topped with Havarti cheese, crispy applewood smoked bacon and a honey-cayenne mayo. It is a nice mixture of sweet with a little spice. All of the flavors seem to compliment each other to a T! Of course it is accompanied by the endless steak fries we all love.
The service was a little slower than normal on this particular visit. I believe we were there at staff change and this accounted for the problem. When the food arrived it was prepared perfectly. We were all happy with the meal and even saved room for a little dessert.
The dessert of choice were the new Red Robin Cupcakes. I mean who can turn down a cupcake? They come in three flavors including Signature Freckled Lemonade, ChocoLOT and So Very Vanilla. We had the last two of the flavors, ChocoLOT and So Very Vanilla. They were very moist and had a nice filled inside. The only suggestion we had was to put a vanilla frosting inside the ChocoLOT cupcake. It was a little too rich for our liking.
Every time I visit Red Robin, I find the atmosphere to be fun and inviting for my family. I love that they offer a balloon to the kiddos at the end of the meal. They also have the best kids cups. I never have to worry about a spill.
