I know most women love diamonds, don’t get me wrong, so do I. I love finding jewelry with a meaning behind it even more. There is something about wearing jewelry that has such a great story to go with it.
Jizo & Chibi is one of those types of jewelry collections. This line of jewelry was born by Valerie Johns. Jizo & Chibi became an important part of her life one day while walking past someone’s backyard on Miyajima Island. Although, she and Chibi actually crossed paths the first time when she was only 14 years old. It seems as though she was destined to make this jewelry collection.
The designer,Valerie Johns is a psychotherapist, writer, and artist. She is passionate about what Jizo & Chibi stand for. This information was taken directly from the Jizo & Chibi website for accuracy.
I AM JIZO
Chibi means “little one” in Japanese. I can be your own child or your inner kid. I am in Valerie’s books, What I Heard & What You Said and Why a Fly?.

The only thing I wish would have been different, is the chain. It was shorter than what I prefer and the clasp was extremely hard for me to open. I have several necklaces that I wear, so I just swapped the charm onto a new chain. It is not the actual necklace that makes this jewelry unique and special, it is the charm. It would certainly not have deterred me from purchasing the item.
I love that the designer was so passionate about creating this line of jewelry. The Chibi necklace that I received has been such a great source for conversation. At first glance, the Chibi charm looks like a form of a gingerbread man. ( I hope that doesn’t offend.) I have had several people ask me about it and what it was. It was fun being able to share the story behind the necklace. I also find the jewelry to be very unique and special. You can tell that the designer put a lot of work into making something wonderful and dear to her.
I think the story behind Jizo & Chibi is a beautiful one, no matter what your beliefs may be. I recommend visiting her site to have a look around. She also offers a beautifulmeditation for you, if you are interested.
