Depression! Anxiety! Stress! I would guess that these are all things that you or someone you know have gone through at one point in their life. Who knows, maybe you have gone through all of these things at one time or another. Thank goodness that there is help for all of these things if we want it.
Beyond Blue is a book written by Therese J. Borchard. Therese has first hand knowledge of what its like to suffer from all the above things and more. She even writes about them and her life on her “Beyond Blue” Blog.
As I read her introduction into the book, entitled Confessions of a Holy Whackjob, I knew this was going to be a great read. Therese has a way of writing that doesn’t make you feel as though you are being talked down to. I have read several other self-help books that only helped to leave me feeling more confused than when I started reading.
Reading Beyond Blue: Surviving Depression & Anxiety and Making the Most of Bad Genes was just like listening to a friend talk about their experiences with life. She was real and honest about living with depression. At times, I actually laughed because of the things she shared about her life. That is why I enjoyed reading this book.
If you are looking for a self-help book to read yourself or to recommend to others, Beyond Blue is a great book to consider. It will have you laughing and possibly crying depending on the moment. Either way, it will leave you knowing that you are not alone no matter what you are going through in life.
You can find Beyond Blue at any retail bookstore or online.

I've had depression and social anxiety disorder since childhood and, believe me, meds are no help whatsoever. Would love to read this book and see if I can take anything from it that would help me out.

I would love to get a crack at this book. I had such a hard time after my daughter but being a young mom I refused to recognize it as post pardum and I think I went through and caused alot more trouble than necessary if I had known what to look for and how to deal with it! We're looking at having our second some time next summer and this time I'm going to be prepared!
