As most of you guys know, I am a very picky person when it comes to food. Therefore, I am not the best person to review food products. I was asked to review a new ready-to-eat breakfast food and I thought about turning it down, but it sounded to good (nutritionally) to pass up. So I decided to give it a try.
The product is called “Chia Goodness”. Yes, you heard right. Just like the little Chia Pets we were once drawn too! Who could possibly know that it was one of the most nutritious foods you could eat? The FDA’s nutrient database has shown Chia to have 5 times more calcium than milk, and more Omega 3 than salmon. It is chock full of antioxidants, protein, fiber, and minerals. After eating it you feel energized and satisfied according to the package. This makes it good for helping with weight loss as well. This product is gluten-free, lactose-free, fat-free, and low glycemic, so almost anyone can eat it.
Chia Goodness comes in three different flavors, Original, Cranberry Ginger, and Apple Almond Cinnamon. This food requires no heating. Just add any liquid and let it sit. After a few minutes, it is ready to eat. I personally did not enjoy eating it this way. It stayed a little to crunchy for my liking. I was determined to find a way I could enjoy it though. It had too much of a benefit not to try it again. This time I tried it sprinkled on my yogurt. I stirred it in and let it sit for a couple of minutes. I was able to eat the yogurt and I felt good knowing I was getting all the nutrition added to it. I won’t say that I loved eating it, but I don’t love exercising either and I still do it for the benefits it brings my body!
I am going to start my children on it now, so that they can acquire a taste for it. I believe in feeding them and myself the best things for us when I can. Chia Goodness can be found at Whole Foods, select supermarkets and independent health food stores nationwide. If you are looking for a new superfood for your body, this is it!
